Itinerary
DAY ONE Arrive by train to Weymouth station and take a short stroll to your accommodation on the sea-front. Spend the rest of the day at leisure, exploring the beautiful Georgian esplanade and the historic harbour, lined with colourful houses and busy with yachts and fishing boats. DAY TWO This morning you will head east from Weymouth for a private tour, starting with what is probably the most famous sight in Dorset - Durdle Door. Having admired this magnificent rock arch, you then move on to The Etches Collection at Kimmeridge. After you have taken a tour of this world-class fossil museum, we will take you on to Corfe Castle where you can find some lunch, visit the castle itself and explore the pretty village which bears its name. After lunch, we will take a drive to Studland where you can walk the cliff-top path to admire Old Harry Rocks or take a stroll on the beach to take them in from a distance. We then return to Weymouth where you will find several excellent fish restaurants for an evening meal. DAY THREE This morning, we will head off in the opposite direction, heading west to arrive in Lyme Regis. Here you can explore the fossil shops, walk along the ancient harbour, walk out to the famous Amonite Pavement, visit the interesting museum on the site of Mary Anning's home and take a guided fossil tour. Timings will depend on tides and we will adjust your day to fit around low tide. At the end of the day, we return to Weymouth. DAY FOUR Time to head home!
