Stay in Hardy's Casterbridge, the perfect base to explore his birthplace, the home he designed and built just outside the town and his final resting place at Melstock Church as well as the countryside which informed his writing.
ITINERARY
Day 1 - Arrive and settle in to your accommodation.
Day 2 - Visit the cottage where he was born and wrote Under The Greenwood Tree and Far From The Madding Crowd. On then to Mellstock Church where his heart lies buried with his two wives and surrounded by his parents and family.
Day 3 - Visit Max Gate, the home he designed and built for himself on the outskirts of the town then spend the afternoon at leisure to explore Casterbridge, visit the County Museum where his study is housed and stroll up to Maumbury Rings.
Day 4 - Take a drive through some of the landscape which informed his writing and see some of the settings for his novels before heading home in the afternoon.
