ITINERARY
DAY ONE - Arrive at your accommodation, settle in and explore the local area if time permits.
DAY TWO - We start your week with a gentle day's walking over the downlands of central Dorset. Taking in Cerne Abbas and its famous giant, peaceful valleys and ridgeways with wonderful views.
DAY THREE - Today we are visiting the Isle of Purbeck, which isn't an island at all but a spectacular area of coast, hills and heathland. We will visit famous Corfe Castle, walk the ridgeway to the coast and then across some of Dorset's best preserved heathland, home to rare reptiles and birds.
DAY FOUR - Today we are venturing inland again to explore West Dorset. Taking in some of the most inaccessible parts of the county including Lower Kingcombe nature reserve.
DAY FIVE - Back to the coast again for a walk around the island of Portland. Attached to the mainland by just a causeway of shingle (the famous Chesil Bank), this island has an atmosphere all of its own. You will have the opportunity to spot migratory birds, wander the abandoned quarries, visit the interesting little museum and Portland Bill lighthouse and explore an unusual sculpture park along the way.
DAY SIX - A day spent further north in the county, taking in two of the best Ironage hillforts as well as the lush Blackmore Vale with its meandering River Stour. A day to take in the views, watch the river slide idly past and wander meadows of grazing cattle with a couple of interesting historic places to visit en-route.
DAY SEVEN - And so to the grande finale! A day walking the magnificent Jurassic Coast. We've left this to last so that you have got your walking legs prepared for some serious ups and downs. This walk takes in the iconic Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove, visiting the deserted village of Tyneham and lovely Ringstead Bay, where you can go for a dip from the pebble beach if you come prepared.
Time to say goodbye to Dorset and head home. We are sure you will be back!
