We know Dorset inside out and are looking forward to introducing you to the big landmarks as well as some less well-known spots. This week-long holiday covers most of the south and west of the county and includes the iconic Jurassic Coast, the atmospheric island of Portland (not quite an island but nearly) and some peaceful inland villages and towns.

During the summer especially, there is nearly always a local festival on, whether it be food, music (folk, indie or classical) or an agricultural show and we'll include one of these where we can to give you a taste of local Dorset life. There will be ample opportunity for swimming and beach-combing, walking or just taking in the view.

Dinners will be arranged at our favourite, award-winning restaurants, pubs and hotels and accommodation will vary according to what availability there is for your dates. Let us know if there is somewhere you would particularly like to stay.

We are happy to work your itinerary around any other things you would like to include and can recommend places for lunch or provide picnics (we know some great spots!) of locally sourced, artisinal food.

ITINERARY

Your week will vary depending on the time of year and what events are on but will include the following (and not necessarily in this order):

Day 1 - Arrive at your accommodation and settle in with time to explore around the local area.

Day 2 - The Jurassic Coast and Corfe Castle.

Day 3 - A relaxed day exploring the historic village of Cerne Abbas and Sherborne with its beautiful abbey and independent shops.

Day 4 - A tour of the Isle of Portland (either by car or on foot) and then on to the pretty harbour at Weymouth.

Day 5 - A local festival (there are lots happening in the summer).

Day 6 - Sneak across the border to Wiltshire to visit magnificent Stourhead with its paladian mansion and acres of landscaped gardens, including temples and a subterranean grotto. Not in Dorset we know but when you are this close it would be a shame to miss it.

Day 7 - A tour of West Dorset with a visit to Abbotsbury where you can visit the swannery and sub-tropical gardens and wander the pretty streets full of thatched cottages and history, then a visit to a local vinyard, cider orchard or brewery.
