April is when rural Dorset starts to come alive.  The hedges are full of nesting birds, the woods carpeted with bluebells and the banks fill with primroses as the days lengthen and warm.  On sunny days it can be warm enough to sit outside, turn your face to the sun and feel the promise of summer.

Lyme Regis Easter Monday Duck Race

1st April 2024

On Easter Monday, the RNLI will drop hundreds of individually numbered yellow plastic ducks into the River Lym. The Lyme Regis Town Crier will officially start the race near Woodmead Bridge and it will finish further down the river at Jordan Flats. Ducks can be purchased online and each numbered ticket buys the corresponding numbered yellow plastic duck in the race. Everyone is welcome to come and join in the fun and cheer on the ducks.
